ART STATION PRESENTS
A Broadway Christmas Carol
by Kathy Feininger
"a little song, a little dance, a little eggnog down your pants"
November 30 – December 23, 2005
"A Broadway Christmas Carol" mixes Charles Dickens' classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge with song parodies of your favorite Broadway show tunes. Even though Dickens wrote a lot of characters into his original piece, "A Broadway Christmas Carol", uses only three actors and a piano player to accomplish the witty song parodies, the lightning-speed costume changes, and of course the infamous ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. It is laugh-out-loud, roll-in-the-aisles funny, but it also hews close to the Dickens narrative. Creator Kathy Feininger only gets serious when talking about Dickens. "We're very reverent towards Charles Dickens," she once noted.
"A Broadway Christmas Carol" stars David Silverman as Scrooge, Geoff "Googie" Uterhardt as the man who isn’t Scrooge, Bethany Irby as the woman who isn’t Scrooge, and Patrick Hutchinson as the man behind the piano-who also isn’t Scrooge. The ART Station production will feature direction by David Thomas, costume design by Ashley Holmes, set & lighting designs by Michael Hidalgo, musical direction by Patrick Hutchison and choreography by Karen Beyer.
