ART STATION PRESENTS “2008 Children’s Summer Performance Series”
ART Station is proud to present the “2008 Children’s Summer Performance Series” each Thursday, May 29 – July 31 at ART Station in Stone Mountain Village. Ticket prices are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Groups of 10 or more enjoy a $5 per person group rate. Show times are Thursdays at 11:00 & 2:00. Shows are appropriate for ages 4-13. May 29
Lee Bryan, "That Puppet Guy" - "Pinocchio!" Recycled thrift store items become the real "second hand stars" in this fantastic, frenetic retelling based on the classic tale of the Italian woodcarver who wishes for a real boy.
Found-object puppet characters are constructed from various recycled things like kitchen utensils, baskets and tennis rackets. The shape, texture and movement of the objects suggest human (and sometimes non-human) attributes of the characters in the story.

June 12 – Havana Son – “A Musical Tour Through Latin America” Playing the Salsa, Merengue, Son, Cha Cha and Boleros, Havana Son takes audience members through a musical tour of Latin American countries including Cuba, The Dominican Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Panama and Puerto Rico. Join in by clapping, singing, dancing and even playing along as Havana Son moves through the musical traditions of each country. The duo adds context to its musical performance by helping audience members identify each country on a map, teaching about its size and population and sharing new vocabulary words.

Akbar Imhotep - "Summertime Fun for Reading Bugs"
Audience favorite Akbar creates a fun-filled storytelling and puppetry presentation for reader, listeners and story lovers, includes stories about bugs and reading bugs. Hand and rod puppets are used to assist this wonderful storyteller perform his stories.
June 26
Laughing Matters - Acting Out - Improv!” Laughing Matters collects suggestions from audience members regarding setting, characters and themes and then instantly perform sketches, skits, songs, stories and poems using the subjects that audience members choose. Audience members join actors onstage and learn about the basic components of improvisation.
July 10
Eric Litwin – “I Hear America Singing” Celebrate our folk history and cultural diversity through America's folksongs and folktales. Enjoy outrageous tall tales, inspiring folklore, captivating ghost stories, joyful sing-a-longs and fanciful fairytales. Eric brings these songs and stories to life with the dynamic sounds of the guitar and banjo!
July 17
Dave Holland –“Drumming Up Stories” Watch and listen as world folk tales come to life through this program of drumming, song and audience participation. Learn how the drum was first used to communicate, how music can enhance storytelling and how instruments can be created from ordinary objects. Chosen audience members help tell stories by acting out parts and playing sound effects.

Wendy Bennett "Cinderella" Relive the familiar and well-loved fairytale with delightful music, props, puppets, costumes and lots of audience involvement.
