ART Station rated "Best Art Instruction for Kids"
--Atlanta Magazine 1996
ART Station and the DeKalb county Board of Education have come together to offer your child quality, safe and comfortable after-school care. On a daily basis, your child will have fun exploring the visual, literary and performing arts. For a reasonable fee you can have the security of knowing your children are being well taken care of in a supportive environment in their own school.
They will also be taking wonderful journeys into the worlds of painting, drawing, puppetry, dramatics, multimedia visual arts, movement, music, and creative writing. All supplies to participate in the arts activities are included in the prices listed below.
ART Time provides after-school care for children between pre-K and 13 at selected DeKalb County Elementary Schools and at ART Station. ART Time also provides a summer ARTS Camp program at the ART Station building located in the heart of Stone Mountain Village. ART Time serves all children and actively includes children with special needs.
Professional childcare facilitators are present to supply your child with consistent nurturing and care by serving nutritious snacks, moderating relaxation time, and homework time.
ART Time provides professional artists/teachers at each site. Using a three-week rotating schedule, each art instructor gives students two hours a day 4-6 p.m. hands-on exploration in the arts. Young people are given opportunities not only to have fun with art but also to explore the process involved in creating art - "brain training." Basics such as decision-making abilities, confidence in intuition, flexibility in social interaction and cooperation, imagination, verbal and written communication are enhanced through the activities presented.
In brief, ART Time is designed and committed to providing "art care" to children in a safe, supportive, nurturing environment.
